As consumers become more concerned with caring for the environment, the maritime industry has launched its own new green initiatives.  Join OWIT-Phoenix on Thursday, March 20, 2014 for an informative program that will focus on environmental sustainability in the maritime industry and its impact on importers and exporters in terms of cost, transit time, and good corporate citizenship.

Guest Speakers Invited:

Robert Clark, Director of Security & Environment at APL.

Robert Clark has been with APL for 27 years, and has been Director of Security and Environment, Americas since July, 2012.  Prior to this he held a variety of management positions within the company, including Director of Labor Relations, Director of Marine Operations, Director of Terminal Planning, and Director of Vessel Operations. 

Robert is a graduate of the SUNY Maritime College at Fort Schuyler where he earned a BS in Marine Business and Commerce, a Minor in Humanities, and a USCG Third Mates Unlimited Horsepower/Any Oceans License. 

Robert currently serves as the Vice President of the Marine Exchange of Southern California.

Karen Vellutini, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Devine Intermodal, President of Women in Logistics Northern California.      

Karen Vellutini has been in the international transportation industry since 1988. Her professional experience encompasses many facets of the industry, including ocean carriers, terminal operators and trucking companies.  She is currently Vice President, Sales & Marketing for Devine Intermodal, an intermodal trucking company headquartered in West Sacramento, CA providing trucking and warehousing/3PL services throughout Northern California and Northern Nevada.  Karen's previous positions include marketing and sales with Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) and American President Lines (APL). 

Karen is the current President of Women in Logistics (WIL,) a non-profit organization with the goal of providing resources and educational and networking opportunities for men and women in the logistics industry.  Additionally, she is the Events Director for the Northern California chapter of Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) helping distribution professionals remain on the leading edge.

Karen is a Northern California native and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business from California State University, Fresno.
